Library Building Project Moving Forward
This summer, the New Glarus Village Board made two key decisions that will allow the library building project to proceed. First, unanimous approval of the west side location, next to the Swiss Center of North America; and second, a commitment to borrow $1 million for the project. These actions are setting in motion the final push to raise funds needed to build a library that will serve New Glarus today, and meet the future needs of this community.
The library's architects have drawn up a concept plan incorporating data on library use, input from the public and staff, and library experts. The concept plan outlines a building with 10,485 square feet of library space and an estimated total project cost of $3.5 million.
Library supporters have already given over $1 million and the library has set an aggressive goal of raising an additional $1.5 million.
Updates to the library building project will be published in the paper and on social media as the project progresses.
