New Glarus Library Capital Campaign Receives Challenge Grant
The Schlecht Family Foundation has generously provided a challenge grant to the New Glarus community for the new library in the amount of $15,000. Schlecht Family Foundation will match donations up to that amount received by December 31, 2019.
“It’s meaningful for our family foundation to give back to the community of New Glarus, whose many residents have been part of the growth of Duluth Trading Company over the years,” said Steve Schlecht, founder of Duluth Trading Company.
The Schlecht Family Foundation challenge grant begins the final phase of fundraising for the new library. In May, the New Glarus Village Board unanimously chose a site for the library on the west side of New Glarus next to the Swiss Center of North America; and in September, the board committed $1 million towards the building of the library.
As of today, the capital campaign has raised over $1,080,000. The campaign hopes to raise an additional $1.5 million by early 2020.
